Boom Reinforcement (1 of 2)
It's a good idea to install
a reinforcing "sleeve" inside the boom at the point where the vang
attaches. This will reduce the possibility of breaking the boom when the vang
is adjusted hard. You can use a section of an old boom about 3 feet long which
should then have a section cut out of it lengthwise to allow it to be squeezed
together and slid inside the boom. Then use rivets to fix it in place.
